Lamb
Oct 31, 1924 — Aug 11, 2023
Zora Lamb, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 98. Zora was born on October 31, 1924, in Ellsinore, Carter County, Missouri, to Fred and Myrtle Cates. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dick Allen Lamb, as well as her parents and nine siblings, along with numerous other family members.
Zora was a vibrant and talkative woman who always had a helping hand extended to those around her. She was known for her boundless energy and her passion for sewing. Zora's skill and creativity were unmatched, and she could turn any piece of fabric into a beautiful fashion or a cherished item. She took great joy in using her sewing talents to create "pillowcase" dresses for mission trips to various countries.
In her younger years, Zora played basketball on her school's team and continued to play with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, even at her own 90th birthday party. She cherished the time spent playing and bonding with her family.
Zora dedicated many years to a successful career in retail sales at TG&Y before retiring. Her hard work and dedication were evident in everything she did.
Zora found solace and community in her faith. She worshipped and Baptized at the Free Will Baptist church in Cushing, Oklahoma, as well as attending other churches throughout her life. In her later years, while living in Stillwater, she attended church with her older sister at her sister's congregation.
Zora is survived by her loving daughters, Lynna Akers of Owasso, and Sharon Hill and her husband Merrill of Seffner, Florida, and son Daryl Lamb of Claremore. She is also survived by her seven cherished grandchildren, Heidi, Olivia, Christin, Chad, Austin, Angel, and Blake, along with fifteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Zora is further survived by one brother, Earl Cates and one sister, Rose McKeown.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 16th, from 1-3 PM at Matherly-Davis Funeral Home in Cushing. A graveside service will follow on Thursday, August 17th, at 11 AM at Fairlawn-New Zion Cemetery in Cushing and followed by a luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Fairlawn-New Zion Cemetery in Cushing. Contributions can be made through their PayPal account or by credit card on their website, Fairlawn-NewZion.org.
Zora Lamb will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and creativity will continue to inspire generations to come.
