Wayne
Mcfarland
Sep 20, 1939 — Jun 21, 2026
Depew
Wiley Wayne McFarland, born September 20, 1939, in Depew, Oklahoma, to Floyd Everett and Grace (Pauley) McFarland, departed this life on June 21, 2026, at the age of 86.
Wayne grew up in Depew and graduated from Depew High School. On May 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sue Inman. Together they built a beautiful life and raised four children: Lanette, Carla, Todd, and J.W. Wayne and Sue shared fifty‑six wonderful and adventurous years before her passing on November 28, 2016.
Well known for his exceptional carpentry skills, Wayne could build or fix just about anything. His kids and grandkids said Grandpa could fix anything except a broken heart and the crack of dawn. He loved spending time at the lake—fishing, camping, skiing, and enjoying the outdoors with family and friends. He was also famous for his sense of humor and his knack for being a good‑natured prankster. Wayne served his community as a volunteer with the Depew Fire Department and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a local business owner who created and built McFarland's DX, he loved helping his community and was always available for anyone in need. Above all, he loved his family deeply and took great pride in each generation that followed him.
Memories of a grandson:
Grandpa... To the man who taught me about carpentry work, who built our Christmas gifts out wood from board games to Rubberband guns. Who stood at the fence during football games and worked the chain gang on the sidelines for his grandsons. Who was in the stands for his granddaughters at basketball games. The midnight fishing trips on Lake Eufaula.
Wayne is survived by his four children: Lanette Fadely and husband Bret, Carla Casteel, Todd McFarland and wife Susie, J.W. McFarland and wife Gayla
He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Moore and Carolin "Susie" Winn; grandchildren Isaac Hall and wife Rachael, William Hall and wife Brittany, Adrian Moore and husband Caleb, Michael Hall, Daniel Casteel, John Casteel Jr. and wife Carissa, Chelsey Thomas and husband Cody, Mallory Tallman and husband Philip, Quinn McFarland, Grace McFarland, Matthew McFarland, Erin Burks, Brittany Estill and husband Adam, Angela Tichenor, Andrea Martinez, and Austin Browning; twenty‑seven great‑grandchildren; and one great‑great‑granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sue; and his siblings Lou Alice Railey, Floyd McFarland Jr., Estella Taylor, Charles McFarland, Dollie Owens, Arlene Jones, Linda Wallin, Kathryn Foster, and Tommy McFarland, and one son in law John Casteel.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM, Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Depew First Baptist Church with interment at Oakdale Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
