Walter Posey, Jr. was born to Walter and Nola (Miller) Posey on September 11, 1931 on Conner Lease near Oilton, Oklahoma. He attended elementary school at Crow School and graduated from Oilton High School with the class of 1949.
On August 14, 1954 he married Frankie Jo Ryan at the Oilton Free Will Baptist Church and together they raised three children.
Walter worked for the City of Oilton as Utility Superintendent, he served on the Oilton Fire Department for twenty years, where he retired as Fire Chief and for more than forty years, he worked as Executive Director of the Oilton Housing Authority.
He accepted Jesus as his Savior in April 1958 at the Oilton Free Will Baptist Church. He attended Shiloh Ministries Church, which is housed in the original Free Will Baptist building, until his death.
He passed from this life on July 11, 2022 at the age of 90, just two months from his 91st birthday.
He is survived by wife, Frankie Jo of the home; son Greg Posey of Ponca City; daughter Mendy and son in law, Jesse Garcia of Albany, OR; son Dr. Matt Posey and wife, Tammy of Bethel Acres, OK; grandchildren Carson and husband, Jake Hammons of Benton, AR; Philip Garcia of Tulsa, OK; Brittney Quinn of Oilton; Kim Holman of Tulsa, Mike and Brandon Bullington of Ponca City; great granddaughters, Rachel and husband Brandon Thomas of Ponca City; Autumn Ryan Posey of Rio Rancho, NM; and Ally Posey of Cushing; great-great grandchildren Emory and Caden; sister Dianne and husband Ken Hackl of Owasso and niece Danelia Barnes of Oilton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Nola Posey; sister Betty Smith; daughter-in-law Sara Posey and grandson Ryan Posey.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm on July 14, 2022 at Shiloh Ministries Church in Oilton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Walter's memory to Shiloh Ministries Church, the Oilton Historical Society or St. Jude's Children's Medical Center
