Wallace "Ray" Watkins, 79, passed away on October 8, 2019 at his home in Ripley, Oklahoma surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday October 11th at the 9th & Linwood Church of Christ, Cushing, Oklahoma where he has been an active member for nearly six decades. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the same location. Bob Fitzgerald and Ron Babbitt will be officiating. Interment to follow immediately after services at the Parkland Cemetery, in Parkland, Oklahoma. Davis Funeral Home will be overseeing the arrangements. Ray was born December 30, 1939 in Tryon, Oklahoma to Ervin and Nellie (Mallonee) Watkins. He attended school in the Lincoln County area and graduated from Agra High School. He married the love of his life, Carol L. (Haskin) Watkins on June 9, 1960. They enjoyed over 59 years of true companionship, friendship and love. To this marriage they welcomed a son, Donnie Watkins and a daughter, Susan (Watkins) Champion. Ray was a tireless, hard-worker and yet he always made time to attend ballgames, recitals, swim meets, or any other activity his kids and grandkids were in. He was by far the best dad and papa anyone could ever ask for. Ray worked in a variety of roles starting in electrical, construction work, refinery operations, finishing his career as an electrician all over the Cimarron Valley. Ray's real passion was building up the family's farm and cattle operation that he and Carol were so proud of. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Max Watkins, his brother and sister-in-law Danny and Donna Watkins, one sister, Peggy Sue Watkins and a daughter-in-law, LeAnn Watkins. Ray is survived by his wife, Carol Watkins; son, Donnie Watkins and wife Sue; daughter, Susan Champion and husband Frank; grandchildren, Colton Watkins, Stephanie and Trevor Fry, and Bryan Champion. Two great grandchildren, twins, Lucas and Easton Fry, who will continue the orneriness we have come to expect and love from Ray. He is also survived by his grandchildren Keisha and husband JW Trammell and great grandchildren Kate, Kasen and Samuel Trammell. He is survived by brothers, Joe and MaryAnn Watkins, Mike and Anita Watkins; sister-in-law Margaret Watkins; sister-in-law Shirley and Rex Elmore; and brother-in-law, Dale Haskin as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Colton Watkins, Bryan Champion, Trevor Fry, Joe Watkins, Mike Watkins, and Dale Haskin. Honorary pallbearers will be John Favalora and Harold Flint. Ray will always be remembered for his love for his family, the big smile that lit up his face when he talked about his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids, his fun teasing personality, his compassion and kindness shown to others, and his love for God. The family is so thankful for Physicians Choice Hospice, who provided such loving and compassionate care for Ray and his family for over a year.
