Todd
Martin
Oct 17, 1966 — Feb 15, 2024
Depew
Michael Todd Martin was born October 17, 1966, to Albert Ray Martin and Georgia Ann Carter in Hobbs, New Mexico. He departed this life February 15, 2024, at the age of 57.
Todd graduated from Hobbs High School and later in adulthood attended Central Area Vo Tech where he received his certificate of completion in Telecommunications.
On August 8, 1986, Todd Martin and Stacy Terrell were united in marriage. They raised four sons together, Zachary, Eron, Dannon, and Logan.
He enjoyed working the land on his tractor, caring for his horses and his granddaughter's ponies, attending rodeos with family, working on and selling cars, delighting in a chicken fried steak dinner made complete by "obscene amounts of gravy" which wait staff repeatedly heard him insist on, and, most importantly, making anyone in his presence laugh and feel both comfortable and accepted. Finally, Todd loved spending time with his family and was adored by each and every one of them.
The old cliche, "he never met a stranger" has never been more true than in the case of Todd. His love for people and his witty sense of humor infiltrated each and every interaction in his life. From lovefully harrassing waitresses, to under-his-breath comments many never heard, to banter that made his grandbabies belly laugh to the point of tears, it was always made apparent that Todd was one of a kind...in all of the best possible ways. Furthermore, he was honest, a man of his word every day of his life.
Being raised by a hard-working, single mother instilled in Todd a strong set of values and his love for his mother and brothers only strengthened with the passing of time. These values would be passed along to his sons, who beared withness to the blessing of a father of the highest caliber.
Todd's marriage to his wife, Stacy, was 38 years in the making and was most certainly one to be admired. Their entire relationship was the exemplification of love, loyalty, respect, support, humor, and having fun with your love! It is one his sons are inspired by and will work to emulate themselves.
Todd was a man of strong faith, often shown more through his actions than his words. In his final months of life, his faith grew even stronger. Lifted up in prayer by his family and community, he felt the power of God's presence move in his life more than ever.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Stacy Martin; four sons, Zachary Jarrett and spouse Tobi, Eron Martin and spouse Steven, Dannon Martin, Logan Martin and spouse Paige; mother, Topper Martin; two brothers, Billy Burrows and spouse Neda, Landon Martin and spouse Kimber; and four grandchildren, Bailey Lynn Jarrett, Emma Martin, Tate Martin, and Lainey Martin. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Ray Martin, and his maternal grandparents, Hollis and Zelma Mitchell.
It is difficult to encapsulate the life of such an incredible man, who touched so many lives, in so few words. However, since all good things must come to an end, this will conclude with the advice and words of his young granddaughter, Emma..."Just tell them he was the best Pa ever."
May we all try to be just a little more like "Pa."
