Shirley Mae Mathews was born June 20, 1941 to Hiram Wallace "Bud" and Mary (Yochum) Evans in Bristow, Oklahoma.  She departed this life January 13, 2023, at the age of 81.

She graduated from Gypsy public schools as valedictorian of her class.  On April 28, 1960, Shirley Evans and Thomas Mathews were united in marriage.  From this union were born two children, Terry, and Sherri.  She operated daycares in California and Bristow.

Shirley was a member of the Oak Street Church of God.  She enjoyed working puzzle books, playing handheld games, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by son, Terry Mathews and wife Lisa; daughter, Sherri Britt; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Mysse and spouse Qori, Justin Britt and spouse Nick; Jacob Britt and spouse Brittany, Jeffrey Britt and spouse Brynlee, Amanda Whitley and spouse Ben, Alicia Kok and spouse Isaac, Angela Tillman and spouse Emory, Andrea Green and spouse Jess; three great grandchildren, Peyton Britt, Landon Whitley, Emmy Whitley.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Linda Morris, brother, Alan Evans.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM, Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Oak Street Church of God with interment to follow at the Welty Cemetery.
