Sharon Elizabeth Prewitt, 76 year old Cushing, OK resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. She was born on Saturday, March 9, 1946 to Archie and Verna (Fritts) Vaughan in Sparks, Oklahoma. Sharon attended elementary and junior high school in Katy, Texas before moving to Oklahoma and graduating from high school at Stillwater High School. Sharon married Tommy Prewitt on March 15th 1979. She worked for Sumner, Stigler, and Quinton Schools. She finished her career as a clinic administrative assistant in Eufaula. She enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables in the gardens at Sumner and Eufaula and watching hummingbirds and one giant woodpecker drink from the feeders. She was a member of First Church of God at Ripley, Ok.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tommy Prewitt; brother Vernon Vaughan; daughter Beverlye Saxton and son Mark Sweeny; brothers-in-law Doug, Bobby and Roy Prewitt; sister-in-law Patsy Gillham. She is lovingly survived by her children, Tony Prewitt and wife Stephanie of Mustang; Grady Prewitt and wife Anna of Anderson, SC; Eddie Sweeny and wife Lanetta of McLoud; Charles Prewitt and wife Charlotte of Stillwater; and Russell Prewitt and wife Michelle of Perry; Grandchildren, Amanda Elmore and husband Eric; Justin Prewitt, Daniel Prewitt, Heston Prewitt and wife Kristinia; Jared Prewitt, Jordan Prewitt, Tristian Young and husband Kenny; Jake Moore and wife Laken; Ramona Willingham and husband Greg; and Rayneil Gilmore. Sharon is also survived by brother Jack Vaughan and wife Rose; brother Buddy Vaughan and wife Sheryl; and sister Freda and husband Richard Hildbrand; sisters-in-law Connie Prewitt, Helena Prewitt, and Elizabeth Prewitt; and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Sharon will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Sumner Baptist Church in Sumner, OK with Reverend Albert Quick officiating. Burial of Sharon's ashes will be held privately.
The family would like to thank Linwood Village Nursing Center for the loving care given to Sharon during her time there and for the love that was extended to her family as well.
