Obituary

Rinda Cordelia Bingham was born February 27, 1947, in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Fred Bingham and Fannie Bingham-Sitton. Her father's work with the Santa Fe Railroad took the family to several Oklahoma communities before they eventually settled in Bristow, where Rinda would make her home and raise her family.

Rinda was the mother of four sons and devoted much of her life to her family. She valued kindness, independence and respect for others, qualities she worked to instill in her children.

Her love of beauty and cosmetology became a career spanning nearly 50 years in Bristow. Rinda owned her own shop and worked at several others, including Lawson's Beauty Shop, before finishing her career providing services to residents of Woodland Village Senior Apartments. Over the years, many of her clients became dear and lifelong friends. She took particular pleasure in caring for the older women who returned to her chair week after week.

Rinda possessed a lifelong curiosity and loved to read and learn. She enjoyed the Tulsa World, Sunday crosswords, Cryptoquotes and novels, along with the simple pleasures of home and family. Thanksgiving dinners and family gatherings were especially meaningful to her.

Raised in the Baptist church, Rinda maintained a personal and thoughtful spirituality throughout her life and remained proud of her Cherokee heritage.

Rinda is survived by her sons, Mike Rogers and wife Mollie, Brian Sawyer, Gary Sawyer, and Robert Sawyer and wife Dana; granddaughters Tiffany Daugherty and husband John and Madison Moses and husband Brody; great-grandson Adler Moses; brother Harvey Bingham; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Bearl Sitton, Floyd Bingham, Fred Bingham and Sue Holder.

Rinda lived quietly and without pretense. She found meaning in her family, her work, her friendships and in caring for others, leaving behind a lifetime of memories for those who knew and loved her.
