Ricky Eugene Howell passed from this life on Sunday, January 30, 2022, in El Reno, Oklahoma, at the age of 63. A lifelong Cushing resident, Ricky was born September 25, 1958, at Cushing Municipal Hospital and excelled as a student at Cushing Public Schools. A deeply devout Christian, Ricky enjoyed nothing more than communing with his fellow churchgoers every Sunday at First Baptist Church. At home, he loved to talk about movies and share jokes with friends and neighbors. Everyone who knew him felt at once the gentleness of his spirit. An avid sports fan, Ricky collected baseball cards and easily memorized statistics. He could call to mind a team roster or a Bible verse just as easily as remembering a neighbor's phone number. For many years, Ricky served the Lord and his church family as a singer in the church choir. More recently, Ricky charmed his friends and his nurses alike with his singing and his easy-going manner. Ricky is survived by his brother James Howell and nephew Jim Howell of Cushing, OK; cousins Joni and Steve Foglesong of Edmond, OK; and nephew Billy Howell and his wife Erika Ostergaard of Fairfax, VA. Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Barbara Howell of Cushing, OK, and his sister, Linda Howell of Stillwater, OK. A public viewing will be held Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 2-6 pm in the Matherly-Davis Chapel. Services will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 in the Matherly-Davis Chapel at 10:30 am.
