Richard William Shain was born December 30, 1952 to Ray and Velda Shain in Glendale, California. He departed this life January 23, 2022 at the age of 69 years. He had been a Bristow area resident for the last five years.
Rick attended Spokane Community College in Spokane, Washington, earning an Associate of Arts degree. He gave many years of service to the University of Washington, working his way to shop foreman in the primate research facility, working in maintenance until his retirement in 2017. Rick Shain and Sue Kinley were united in marriage on June 18, 1994 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. After obtaining their marriage license from the courthouse, the two walked across the street to The Hitching Post Wedding Chapel and vowed till death do them part. They made their way to Bristow, Oklahoma, building a life around their mutual love for horses. Rick served his Lord and Savior faithfully as a member of the Bristow Advent Christian Church. He had a deep love for is family, loved to fish and had grown fond of his donkeys. As well, Rick was a forever fan of the Seattle Seahawks.
Rick is survived by his wife of 27 years, Sue; five children, John Raymon Shain of Spokane, Washington; stepchildren, Pauline Johnson and husband Stacy of Bristow, Jesse Worley, Cory Worley and Kip Worley all of Madras, Oregon; as well as fifteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Del Ray Shain.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, February 4, 2022, at Bristow Advent Christian Church with Jerry Hutchings and Pastor Al Hutchings officiating.
