Raymond Edward McCrackin "RayMac" of Cushing, OK passed away Monday June 17, 2024. Ray was born December 31, 1936 in Mannford, OK, he was 87 years old.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Doris McCrackin, his nephew Corey McCrackin, his niece Mika McCrackin, his great niece Haley McCrackin, and his granddaughter Anna Cooper.
Ray is survived by his dear wife of 64 ½ years, Carol McCrackin. His brother James and his wife Myra McCrackin, Two daughters; LaRae and her husband Dale Wilhelm, and Kathryn and her husband Dale Wotipka. Seven grandchildren; Kara and her husband Josh Irvin, Lauren Mills, Christa and her husband Thad Greene, Ashley and her husband Josh Hale, Rachel and her husband Andrew Falk, Caleb Wilhelm, and Jourdon and her husband Andrew Geddes. Ten great grandchildren; Devlin Greene, Kairi Greene, Asher Greene, Hunter Mills, Alexis Mills, Devlin Malone, Tristan Malone, Jocelyn Wilhelm, Ryder Wilhelm, and Sloan Geddes.
As mentioned above, Ray was born in Manford, that is the old Manford, the one now under Lake Keystone. He was four years old when his parents moved to Cushing. Ray lived his entire life in three different houses on the same block.
As a youngster, Ray was best described as mischievous, he loved tormenting his younger brother Jim. Despite this, Jim said that it only made him stronger and he dearly loved Ray anyway. As they grew into adults they always stayed very close and developed the bond that only brothers share.
Ray graduated from Cushing High School in 1957, that same year he joined the Air Force and served until 1960 in the Search and Rescue and Fire Department. Ray was still in high school when he met Carol who was one year behind him. Even though they were far away from each other as he was stationed in Alaska their love grew and they married on December 3, 1959.
After leaving the Air Force Ray worked as a police officer, industrial worker, truck driver, groundskeeper at the golf course, boat builder & tank builder. But the job he loved the most was driving the Senior Citizens bus, he loved his passengers and they loved him. Ray was well known for his jerky making skills along with other smoked meats. He loved riding his motorcycles, he and Carol traveled all over together, as far away as the Rocky Mountains.
Ray was also one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he dedicated his life to his heavenly father Jehovah on March 31,1974. He loved to talk about his faith with others and served as a Ministerial Servant in the Cushing Congregation for many years. He was still serving in this capacity when he passed away. Ray firmly believed in the Bible's hope of a resurrection on a paradise earth, where he would have the opportunity to grow to perfection and live life like his heavenly father had originally purposed. We will miss him until we can see him again.
