Randall Lynn Hanks was born December 23, 1954, to Robert Lee Alonzo and Betty Rose (Jones) Hanks in Marlow, Oklahoma. He departed this life November 9, 2024, at the age of 69.
He graduated from Bloomington High School in Bloomington, California where he was a proud and active member of the FFA. On March 24, 1978, Randall Hanks and Kathy Tarver were united in marriage. From this union were born two children, Randall II, and Amy Kay.
He retired from Stillwater Medical Center, where he worked in maintenance. However, he spent the bulk of his working life as an oilfield pumper. He took great pride in this profession, often taking his kids along to open gates. Especially when he was on "vacation". He was able to call out all his "old wells" as he would pass by a corner up till the very end.
"Big" Randy had many interests and hobbies in life, far too many to count. Of these many interests fishing, bee keeping, gardening, farming, carpentry, and chuckwagon cooking and pigeon racing were his most cherished. During his time growing up in California. He took part in an abundance of three-wheeler races with his mom, dad, and little sister racing in the deserts of California and Nevada. He was an avid fisherman from the start. In his younger years he often competed and won many fishing tournaments. He passed this passion on to his family. Many of his favorite vacations were spent at the lake or family ponds fishing. Duck hunting was a passion he took to and loved to take "Little" Randy and Amy Kay along. He also took pride in his carpentry. He could take an idea and bring it to life. He was a skilled chuckwagon cook, often adapting recipes to suit his style of cooking. His latest endeavor was bee keeping. This by far was at the top of his hobbies. Along with his wife Kathy, he even began harvesting and selling honey from his bee hives. He joined bee clubs where he networked and began constructing, marketing, and selling bee boxes along with many pigeon feeders. He loved his family and passions fiercely. He had was a natural teacher, passing along much of his wisdom to anyone who would lend an ear. He was a natural conversationalist. He could strike up a conversation with total strangers. He was a force on earth and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Hanks; children, Randall Lynn Hanks II and wife Jessica, Amy Kay Hanks Elliott and husband John and Amber Nicole Meeks and husband Brent; one brother, Samuel Robert Hanks and wife Shannon; Ten grandchildren, Kari Brymer, Amber Lee, Charli Monroy, Abigail and Zach Tiraada, Whitney and Waylon Hanks, Brylee, Bodie, and Emmie Meeks; Six great grandchildren, Aaliyah, Jordynn, and Kairo Brymer, Joselyn and Jaicie Lee, and Oakley Sparks as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Jeff Tiraada, one sister, Lorie, Burke, two grandchildren, Sara Elizebeth Tiraada, and Hannah June Elliott.
Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 14, 2024, in the Ripley Community Church.
