Nina Lynne Cates was born March 6, 1950 in Ft. Worth, Texas to H.J. Conn and Hattie Baxter. She departed this life May 30, 2024 peacefully in her home at the age of 74. Nina was raised in Whitehouse, TX, graduating from Whitehouse High School with the class of 1969. She was proud of the fact that Patrick Mahomes also graduated from Whitehouse High School.

Nina was united in marriage to Glen Dale Cates on April 19, 1990.

Nina moved to Cushing in 1978 where she worked at Cushing Vet Clinic for over 10 years. She later went to work at The Bank of Cushing where she retired after 27 years.

Nina enjoyed sitting on her deck watching the humming birds, spending time with her cats, reading and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed nursing sick animals back to health including racoons, squirrels, birds and rabbits.

Nina is survived by her husband of 34 years, Glen; children, Robert Smith and Laurie Smith; grandchildren Colton Cravens and wife Janel, Krista Scott and husband Eugene, Austin Cravens and wife Heather, Kagan Ramirez and husband Ricky, and Kobe and Kinzie Smith; great grandkids Braydin Cravens, Laine and Laityn Scott, Rowdy Cravens, Kyler and Kane Ramirez, and numerous other family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Nina is preceded in death by her sisters Mary Holland, Louise Minter, Jeanette Lopez; niece Vickie Elkins; nephews Randy Minter and Bobby Holland.
