Naomi Tallent-
Streitenberger
Oct 24, 1933 — Sep 8, 2021
Cookson
Her smile lit up the room, and her love radiated to all around her.
Her name was Naomi Faye [Wilson] Tallent Streitenberger, and she was born on October 24, 1933, on the Elk River outside of Grove, Oklahoma. A quick glance shared with an upperclassmen in between classes at Bristow High School turned into a 51 year-long marriage to the love of her life, Isaac James Tallent. They were married on September 11, 1951 - when she was only 17 years old.
Over 51 years together, across the world and across the states, they grew their love into a beautiful family of seven. Four girls, one boy, and a house always full of love and beautiful chaos.
Having grown up without her own mother, who tragically died when Naomi was only an infant, she made sure she was always there for her kids. Whether it was carting them to baseball or baton practice, girl scouts or swimming classes - or helping pack up and move to yet another new house, she was always there, always involved, always helping.
In the Summer of 1981, her world was shattered when two of her girls, her son, and her first grandchild were in a car accident that in a matter of minutes, left her with only half her family.
She somehow kept breathing, and kept living, and kept taking care of everyone through it all. She showed us what it looked like to be made of grit, to keep moving, and to live despite what life may throw our way. And, somehow, she never lost her smile.
For nearly three decades she was a realtor in Maryland, as well as in Bristow, Oklahoma. She was a beloved member of the community.
She enjoyed connecting with people, always offering a warm smile and easy conversation.
She doted on her grandkids, baking their play-doh donuts in the oven, dancing with them in the kitchen, teaching them to blow bubbles, and even helping raise them at times.
She took loving care of her husband of over 50 years until his death in 2003.
In 2006, she remarried a wonderful man, James Streitenberger, and spent the better part of a decade traveling and enjoying the world from Alaska to Mexico.
Her legacy is unwavering love.
