Michael Gene Morton, Sr., retired Cushing police officer, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 in Tulsa at the age of 72 years. The son of the late Ernest Cecil Morton and Cecelia Louise Perrin Morton, Mike was born on November 30, 1946 in Cushing and was raised and educated here, graduating from Cushing High School. Mike retired from the Cushing Police Department in 2009, after 25 years of service. He was a very dedicated officer and he loved his job protecting the citizens of Cushing. His hobbies included spending time at Eufaula Lake, fishing and riding his Harley. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, teaching them how to fish and swim. He is survived by his children, Stacey Lynn Moser and her husband Tracey of Aurora, Colorado, and Michael Morton, Jr. of Empire, Colorado; his siblings, Janis Freeman of Mississippi, Cheryl Rose of Texas, and Wesley Morton of Sweden; two grandchildren, Samantha Nichole Moser and Andrew Scott Moser; 6 nephews; 1 niece; several great nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends including Kathy Newman, his significant other. At Mike's request, no services will be held. The family will be hosting a come and go visitation on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center, east of the Funeral Home. Harley's are welcome!!
