Mark Alan
Fankhauser
Mar 27, 1956 — May 11, 2024
Bristow
Mark Alan Fankhauser was born March 27, 1956 to Steve and Joan Fankhauser in Pawnee City, Nebraska. He departed this life May 11, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 68 years.
Mark, a 1974 graduate of Southeast Nebraska Consolidated High School, grew up being taught a love for his country, the value of hard work and the importance of family. Mark served faithfully, twelve years, with the Army National Guard earning an honorable discharge. He and Lynnette Echternach were united in marriage February 1, 1986. Together, Mark and Lynn raised three children. Their life together took them throughout Nebraska before settling in Bristow, Oklahoma in their later years. Lynn preceded Mark in death after nearly thirty years together. Mark loved his family. He loved fiercely; without condition or fail. Mark worked to support his family drafting. He earned his associate degree in and also pledged with Delta Sigma Phi during this time. He gained a working knowledge of radio communications during his time with the military, which he also used extensively. His grandchildren brought a smile and renewed energy with every visit. Those days were never long enough. Mark Loved trains. Model trains, he worked thirty years on his model scene that remains unfinished. Farming, motorcycles and shooting filled any spare time but a good chat with a new friend or acquaintance always made his day. He never met a stranger. He was an active member of the American Legion, Master Mason and a man of his word. Mark served the Lord faithfully and attended First Church of God in Bristow when he could.
Mark is survived by his father, Steve Fankhauser; daughter, Heather Kennedy and husband Tylor; son, Britt Fankhauser; daughter, Kanani Fankhauser; brother, Tim Fankhauser and wife Stacy; nine grandchildren, Gabe and Emma Kennedy; Hayden, Madison, Isabella and Charlie Fankhauser and Koa, Aulani and Keanu Hyde. He was preceded in death by his mother, wife, Lynnette Fankhauser; his mother and father-in-law and his grandparents.
