Mareta Lavon Ryan, long time Cushing resident, passed away March 26, 2023, in Oklahoma City at the age of 93.

Born January 26, 1930, in Yale, Oklahoma to parents C. W. "Ted" and Myrah (Harmon) Appler.

Mareta graduated from Cushing High School with the class of 1947.

She was married to Elmer Waddell on February 15, 1948, until he unexpectedly passed away on April 11, 1948, at the age of 21.

She was united in marriage to Robert P "Booney" Ryan on November 22, 1950, and to this union two sons were born, Phillip Mark and Timothy Jon.

The couple owned and operated Ryan's Dairy Boy for 22 years and Mareta retired from the State Educational System in August 1998.

She was a member of St's Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cushing.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her sister Jerry Burlingame, husband Elmer and husband of 54 Years, Robert.

Surviving are her children Phil and wife Carol of Oklahoma City, Tim and husband John Evans of Oakland, California and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Mareta loved to play bridge, traveling, dancing and OSU.

Having donated her body to science and requesting that her family not have a service for her, we shall honor her wishes.
