Luther Jay Solomon was born March 12, 1929 to Henry and Mary (Keeling) Solomon in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He departed this life July 15, 2021 at his Cushing home surrounded by his family.
He was a graduate of Bristow High School class of 1947. He then served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1947 to 1950.
Luther enjoyed many years married to his first wife Eulema. After many years he would find love again. On December 31, 1992 Luther Solomon and Mary Graves were united in marriage. The two of them enjoyed many trips together including Tennessee, Branson, Missouri, Old Mexico and the Beach.
He had a number of things he enjoyed including reading the bible, in which he knew from Genesis to Revelation, playing horseshoes, singing at the senior citizens and going to the lake camping. He had a true gift for music. He played the harmonica, fiddle, and guitar. He also wrote over twenty gospel songs. Above all he loved the lord and served him by putting others needs before himself.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Solomon; four children, Wilma Lauderdale and husband Mike, Wava Anderson and husband Tommy, Russell Graves and wife Karen and Doug Graves; ten grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Eulema; two grandsons, Rusty Graves and Rowdy Zickefoose; one daughter in law, Jana Graves and five siblings.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00pm, Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at the Cushing First Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Warnock officiating. Interment will follow at Magnolia Memorial Gardens in Bristow. Services are under the direction of Matherly-Davis Funeral Home. Condolences can be left at www.matherlydavisfuneralhome.com
