Lucille Gillespie Carver was born on March 7, 1932, in Pickens County, South Carolina, to John and Ruth Gillespie. She departed this life on August 18, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and quiet strength.
Lucille was united in marriage to John Harlan Carver on December 31, 1968, in Blythe, California. Together they shared 57 years of devotion, partnership, and family. In 1984, Lucy and John made their home in Depew, where they became a cherished part of the community.
A woman of many talents, Lucille enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and scrapbooking. Her hands were rarely still, always creating something beautiful, thoughtful, or useful. She was a proud member of the Red Hat Club, where she served as Queen Mom in the red, bringing joy and laughter to the women she gathered with. Lucille was also a faithful member of Depew First Baptist Church, where her gentle spirit and steadfast faith were evident to all who knew her.
Lucille is survived by her husband of 57 years, John Carver; one son, Billy Clark; and four grandchildren: Weston Sadler, Bethany Walton, Ashton Clark, and Chauncy Clark; five nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Gail Sadler.
Lucille’s life was marked by devotion—to her family, her faith, and the simple joys that made her days full. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
