Lola Mae Jackson, former longtime resident of Poteau, now of Cushing, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at the age of 99 years.
The daughter of the late Herbert Pfeiffer and Ruby Smith Pfeiffer, Lola was born on January 20, 1923, in rural Orlando, Oklahoma.
She was united in marriage to Robert S. Jackson on August 30, 1942, in Muskogee and to this union four children, Maris, Judy, Bob and Bill were born. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2003.
She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Poteau where her husband Robert served as minister. She had taught Sunday School for the 4 and 5-year-olds at the church for over 35 years, also singing in the church choir. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed growing roses.
She is survived by her children, Maris Ward and her husband Steve, Judith Lindsey and her husband Terry, Robert Jackson, Jr., and his wife Tanya and Bill Jackson and his wife Nancy; grandchildren, Stephenie Titsworth and husband Alex, Scott Ward and wife Angie, Richard Jackson, Elizabeth Jackson, Loris Lindsey, Ben Lindsey and wife Taryn and Mattea Jackson; great grandchildren, Michael McGravey, Alex Tomlinson, Corbin Ward, Cade Ward, Carli Ward, Austin Hall and Sutton Titsworth; great-great-grandchildren, Ruby Hall and Shepherd Hall; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Rimes and Lorene Kennedy.
Lola will lie in state on Monday, August 22, 2022, from 8:30 until 10:30 at the First Baptist Church in Poteau and services will follow at the church with Jarvis Cannon officiating. Her burial will be held in the Oakland Cemetery in Poteau.
