Kathy Marlene Carnes was born December 15, 1950 to Howard and Francis Godfrey in Kings Mountain, North Carolina. She departed this life July 3, 2026 at the age of 75 years.

Kathy Godfrey married John Carnes in 1974, she lived most all her life in the Richmond Virginia area.  It was in Richmond her and john raised their daughters, Nikki and April. They made their way to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in 2014.Kathy attended many Baptist churches throughout her life while her health permitted.  Kathy loved children; working in the daycare setting until staying home taking care of daily tasks of home.  Her and john enjoyed 42 years together prior to his passing in 2016.  Kathy felt at ease in most situations, being she never met a stranger and was very comfortable in a social setting.  Her demeanor was sweet and sassy bringing much laughter and love to those that knew her.  She loved her soap operas always making time for Young and the Restless.

Kathy is survived by one daughter, Nikki Coats and husband Justin of Broken Arrow; one sister, Sheila Ford of Monticello, Illinois; two grandchildren, Riley Coats and wife Hannah and Mikayla Coats; one great grandchild on the way.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and one daughter, April Carnes.
