John D. Mulchi, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home at the age of 91 years. The son of the late John D. Mulchi and Pearl West Mulchi, John was born on September 26, 1924 in Grandville County, North Carolina. John was united in marriage to Verla Stith on February 22, 1950 in Cushing. She preceded him in death on December 14, 1988. He was united in marriage to Mildred Clark on September 5, 1995 in Creedmoor, North Carolina. She preceded him in death on May 29, 2007. John served in the United States Navy and worked for the Government as a surveyor. John retired from the Government in 1980, after serving 35 years. He also worked for Halliburton for 8 years. John was baptized in to the Baptist Church at the age of 8 and was a member of the Cushing First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, doing yardwork and spending time with his nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wives, John was preceded in death by one sister, Madline Pittard; two brothers, George Mulchi and Melvin Mulchi and one sister-in-law Norma Billingsley. Survivors include his nephews, Craig Billingsley and his wife Carol of Broken Arrow, Jeff Billingsley of Cushing and Marty Billingsley and his wife Sonja of Cushing; one sister-in-law Glenna Stith of Eufaula; a cousin Mac and Roberta Currin of Adamstown, Maryland; several great nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Brother Ralph Hickman officiating.
