John Edwin Batey, born in Dos Palos, California on May 12, 1947, he passed gracefully and peacefully surrounded by family in Bristow, Oklahoma on December 1, 2023.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Sandy Batey. His children; Darren and Angie Batey, Shanna and Linc Hacker, and Daniel and Kandy Batey. His 11 grandkids, Chris (Savanna), Kassie (Kevin) Hay, Chance, Kyle Inman, Dakota Hacker, Dakota (Ashton), Kolton, Brigham (Kiarah), Brody, Boston, and Kami. Lastly his 5 great grandchildren, Brice, and Denny Hay, Azaela and Zayden Simpson, Bryar, Kaylea, and Tyson. Brother-in-LawDarryl (Sandra) Bridgeford, Stan and Monica Bridgeford, Sister Leona May Freeman, sister-in-law Sue Batey and stepfamily in California along with several nieces and nephews.

He will be going home to his father Leon "Buster" Batey, Mother Gladys Eunice Batey, Brother Leon Batey, and sister Naomi Batey.

He started working in Dos Palos, CA as a Police Officer, and Ambulance Attendant. In Oklahoma he worked his way up to become an Automotive Master Mechanic with McDonald Douglas, passing on his knowledge to sons and grandsons. After 15 years with McDonald Douglas, he moved on to become an Aerospace Master Mechanic and Master Painter at Nordam. His drive and work ethic has been admired by all that know him.

His passion was enjoying the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and camping. Most of this time was spent with family.

John will forever be known for the impact he left on this world, and the joy and laughter that he shared with everyone he ever met.
