Obituary

Jimmy K. Morton was born October 9, 1948, in Bristow and passed away March 1, 2024, in his longtime home, McCalls Chapel School. Jimmy is survived by his brother Jack Morton (Karen), brother-in-law Hank Egleston (Connie), and nieces and nephews. Jimmy's parents Hubert and Zelma (Robbins) Morton, Sister Carol Egleston, and infant brother Bobby Morton have been reunited with Jimmy in Heaven.

Jimmy had lifelong developmental disabilities including blindness, and experienced failing health without complaints or regrets. Over his 76 years, he was a joy and inspiration to many people including other residents and staff of McCalls Chapel School in Ada where he resided for nearly 26 years. Maybe because of his disabilities, he did not see the unkindness in the world or worry about what tomorrow would bring and so he lived a life of uncommon kindness toward and forgiveness of others.

Jack and Karen express their deepest gratitude to McCalls Chapel School, the staff of the Medically Fragile Unit located at McCalls, Mercy Hospital in Ada, and (more recently) Halo Hospice of Ada.  Our gratitude overflows for the individuals who cared for Jimmy over his last years and cared for him with such tenderness during the last months and days of his life.   We are indebted to Jennifer for the affection and care she lavished on Jimmy and Pandora who, before her death, watched over and cared for Jimmy as if he was her beloved son.

Services are scheduled for 10:00AM, March 6, 2024 at the Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at the Bristow City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to McCalls Chapel School in memory of Jimmy (13546 CR 3600, Ada, OK 74820)
