Jean Marie Crockett of Oklahoma City, sister and sister-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Ben C. Crockett, retired teachers of Cushing Public Schools, was born September 17, 1934, to Ben H. and Ernestine M. Crockett in Ada, Oklahoma. She departed this life September 11, 2021, at Primrose Retirement Community in Stillwater at the age of 86.
After graduating from Ada High School, she received her undergraduate degree from East Central University. She would extend her education and receive a master's degree from McCormick College.
Jean never had kids of her own, but her career would evolve around children. She taught for four years in New Mexico and later moved to Oklahoma City working for the Oklahoma State Health Department in the child development department.
She enjoyed painting, crafts, scrapbooking, and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed doing genealogy. She compiled several generations of research on both the Burris side of the family and the Crockett side. She loved her family and was very involved in her nieces and nephew's lives. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by one brother, Ben C. Crockett, and wife Jean of Ripley; niece, Carol Jean Briegge and husband Clay of Perry, Oklahoma; four nephews, Rob Crockett and Paul Crockett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Alan Crockett and wife Jennifer of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Mark Crockett and wife Karen of Denton, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Robert R. Crockett, daughter in law, Jan Crockett, one nephew, Ben Claude Crockett.
