Janice Eilene Ozment Barnett was born May 24, 1939, to John Rex and Anna Orene Ozment in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She departed this life March 3, 2025, at the age of 85.

Eilene attended Cushing Public Schools and graduated in 1957. Eilene married James G. Barnett in 1957. They had three sons, James, Lyn, and Scott. She began working for Cushing Public School System as a teachers aid in 1984 while attending Oklahoma State University part time pursuing her degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, she started teaching in 1991 at Harmony Elementary. She remained there until retiring in 2004. After retiring, she worked as a teacher's assistant at Harrison Elementary until retiring again in 2013. After retirement, she stayed busy tutoring and teaching reading.

She was a member of the Cushing First Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir as well with the ladies' group, Heartsong. She also taught Sunday school for over 30 years.

Ms. Barnett is survived by three sons, James Barnett and Cathy, Lyn Barnett and wife Diane, Scott Barnett and wife Shelia; six grandchildren, Alicia Silva and husband Bill, Julia Barnett and Gavin Yager, Andrea Tanner and husband Joshua, Shannon Quiles and husband Manny, Loren Barnett and wife Layce, Kirsten Jones and husband Darren; four great grandchildren, Mary Silva, Penny Silva, Nelson Barnett, and Beau Barnett. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Rex and Mike Ozment.

Memorial Services will be at 11:00am, Wednesday, March 12, 2025 in the First Baptist Church in Cushing.
