James "Shorty"
Roberts
Feb 2, 1929 — Oct 15, 2025
Bristow
James "Shorty" Roberts, 96, of Bilby, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025. Born to Elmer and Effie Maybelle Roberts on February 2, 1929, Shorty grew up with strong family roots and a deep appreciation for hard work and service.
A proud graduate of Lamar High School, Shorty went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. On May 26, 1956, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Heath, and together they shared 45 devoted years until her passing in 2001.
They had made Bristow their home since 1979. Shorty retired from Koch Industries, where he worked as a pipeline gauger. He was known for his craftsmanship in woodworking and found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren, passing down stories, laughter, and love.
He is survived by his three sons: Roland Roberts, James Roberts Jr., and Bobby Roberts; five grandchildren: Robby Roberts, Bobby Roberts, Danny Roberts, Jimmy Kyle Roberts, and Jamie Lynette Creed; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Barbara, five brothers, and six sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Holdenville City Cemetery in Holdenville, Oklahoma. Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Shorty's life and legacy.
