Obituary

Jack Elliott Smith was born December 29, 1949 to Dr. Jack and Winifred Smith in St. Marys, Pennsylvania.  He departed this life May 4, 2022 in Bristow, Oklahoma, at the age of 72 years surrounded by friends and family.

Jack grew up attending Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania. He graduated with a degree in business from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Jack Smith and Melissa Zimmerman were united in marriage on September 8, 1973.  In 1979, Parkline Systems brought them to Bristow where they made their home and together raised their three children. In 1987 he became owner and operator of Bristow Tire & Auto Service.

Jack found his retreat in Park Hill, Oklahoma in 2014. He was a gifted businessman as well as mechanically inclined, talents he passed along to his sons. Vintage automobile restoration was one of his favorite past times. He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking and stained glass.  Jack felt most at peace among nature and treasured his time fishing with friends. A self-proclaimed protector of the Dogwood trees was a role he took seriously. Jack was also a great cook. He enjoyed hosting friends and family to a great meal with no shortage of experimental recipes and witty banter. He enjoyed time with his family; ever present smiles and laughter were not in short supply. He shared a special bond with his loyal Boxer and kayak buddy, Maebee.

Jack is survived by his three children, Elliott Jon Smith and wife Elizabeth of Bristow, Megan Anne Hymer and husband Drew of Edmond, and Matthew Curtis Smith and wife Jessica of Bristow; one sister, Carole Smith Dickson and husband John of Gibsonia, PA and brother-in-law Colonel Bob Brehm of Butler, PA; eight grandchildren, Alex Sartors, Graycie Smith, Tristan Sixkiller, Mackenzie Sixkiller, Max Hymer, Abigail Smith, Connor Smith, and Benjamin Hymer. The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Chip Cooper for over 43 years of care and friendship with Jack.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joyce Brehm and Sally Smith.
