Harold Ray Meyerdirk was born June 19, 1928 to Fred and June Meyerdirk in Pawnee, OK. He is in God's presence, having passed peacefully at home on January 21, 2022. Harold was predeceased by both of his parents and his two brothers, Carl Meyerdirk and Howard Meyerdirk. While attending Oklahoma A&M (now OSU) Harold met Sylvia Cates. They courted and then married on April 25, 1953 in Cushing, OK. The couple then moved to Fort Worth, TX while Harold served active duty in the Air Force. Harold and Sylvia moved back to Stillwater to finish college. After college, in 1957, Harold began his 32 year career with Phillips Petroleum, and Bartlesville became home and it remains home today. Harold and Sylvia raised three boys: Steve, Doug and Todd. Harold was an active member of First Baptist Church in Bartlesville. His special ministry was teaching Sunday School to 3 and 4 year old children for 48 years. Those children absolutely adored him. In fact, he actually taught the grandchildren of some of his first Sunday School children. Harold's sweet connection with the young children in Sunday School foreshadowed that his twelve grandchildren would adore him as well. Harold had a very easy-going disposition, laughed easily, and would do anything for someone in need. He quietly lived out his faith and his relationship with Jesus Christ. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Sylvia, his sons, Steve (Carol Beth), Doug (Patti), and Todd (Beth), along with 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Matherly Davis Funeral Home, 402 E Broadway, Cushing OK on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 2:00, followed by a graveside service at Euchee Valley Memorial Park in Cushing, OK. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children. Harold has left a legacy of lovingkindness, loyalty, and faithfulness. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
