George Robert Cravens Sr. (80) of Cushing, passed from this life on May 5, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. George was born August 31, 1943, in Guthrie, Oklahoma to George V. and Audrey Cravens. He was born and raised in Guthrie graduating from Guthrie High School and attending Southern Methodist University prior to marrying Linda Conway in Guthrie on October 10, 1966.

George was an accomplished drummer spending his younger years traveling with country music groups and playing shows across the US. He also worked with law enforcement serving as a county reserve in Cushing and responded to the 1974 Drumright Tornado. He spent portions of his career working retail as manager of CR Anthony clothing stores in Oklahoma City and Tulsa and later worked for Western Auto and Cain's Coffee.

He and Linda owned the Cushing Cafe in the 1970's. In the 1980's, he owned the Leisure Lounge and Wagon Wheel night clubs with his wife Linda and his parents. He retired to provide care for his elderly parents and also his grandchildren and later great-grandchildren who meant everything to him.

He was a Sooner fan and a Dallas Cowboy fan and loved to watch their games on tv. He also loved talking and reminiscing with his friends and during his daily trips to Walmart.

He was preceded in death by his wife Linda of 51 years; his parents George and Audrey Cravens; and his brothers Jimmie Lee Cravens and Joe Bob Cravens.

He is survived by his daughter Melody and husband Steve and grandchildren Jordyn Cole and Jeremy Engel; and by his son of the home George Cravens Jr and grandchildren Colton Cravens and wife Janel with great-grandson Braydin; and Austin Cravens and wife Heather with great-grandson Rowdy of Cushing.

The family will hold a private service and appreciate the caring and support shown to them during this difficult time.
