Earl "Wayne" Dobson was born September 24, 1946, to William Earl and Alta Dobson in Tulsa, OK. He departed this life on August 20, 2024, at the age of 77 years.
After attending Depew High School, Wayne was drafted into the US Army in 1965. He honorably served in Vietnam from 1966-1967. Upon return home, Wayne worked at Terex Corp (formally known as Unit Rig and Equipment Company) in Tulsa for 34 years until the company decided to close their doors and move to Mexico. He met Ruth (Storzbach) Dobson in 1974, they married on May 7, 1977. In 1982, Wayne and Ruth moved from Broken Arrow back to his hometown of Depew, OK to raise their sons, David and Jason.
After retirement Wayne and Ruth enjoyed traveling the country in their RV. Their favorite location was wintering in South Padre Island, TX for twelve years. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wayne's hobbies included hunting and fishing. However, his favorite hobby was restoring and building classic cars with his favorite being a 1969 Pontiac GTO. Wayne also had a passion for serving his community as Volunteer Fire Chief, reserve Police Officer and served on the town counsel for Depew, OK.
Wayne is survived by his wife Ruth of 47 years; two sons, David and Cate of Columbia Falls, MT and Jason and wife Niki of Drumright, OK. He is further survived by sister Phyllis and husband John of Depew, brother Tommy and wife Tammy of Osage, sister-in-law Carolyn of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Amy, Rachel, Katie, Brantley, Cameron; seven great grandchildren, Adison, Christian, Lyla, Cowen, Madison, Jack, Hudson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Earl and Alta and his brother Larry Dobson.
The family would like to thank Pastor James Lame and wife, Christi as well as River Cross Hospice.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00pm, Saturday, August 24, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Depew, Oklahoma.
