Deloris Arlene Matherly was born at home in Bristow, Oklahoma on March 21, 1932, to parents Roy F. and Ethel M (Bowman) Matherly. She weighed only 3 pounds at birth and was so tiny that her head could fit in a teacup. She departed this life on October 18, 2024, at the ripe old age of 92.

Deloris was the 9th child of 10 children raised on their parent's farm in Bristow, OK. Each morning, Deloris and her youngest brother Lawrence "had to feed 500 chickens and milk 12 cows before walking at least a quarter of a mile to catch the school bus". This was life for kids raised in the country. They got one pair of shoes per year (went barefooted any other time) and when you're one of ten siblings...and fried chicken was the meal.... Youngest two got the "chicken's foot"! You worked hard in the cotton fields gathering cotton all day and when not in the cotton field you were in the garden or in the Orchard gathering the family's food supply and marketable wares. Everything was valued and nothing wasted.

Deloris graduated from Shamrock High School in 1950 and went to work for the Telephone Office as an Operator; soon after, she met Calvin J. Newport while he was on leave from the Military. After he served his term in the Army they were married on October 3, 1952. To that union they had two children, their daughter Beverly and their son Brad. In 1962 they moved to Sand Springs, OK where they raised their family and lived in that home for nearly 45 years. Deloris worked and excelled in Tupperware sales, even earning a Tupperware company vehicle. Always a hard worker, especially in her vegetable garden where she raised more than enough for her own family and made sure every passerby, and every friend, family, or foe went home with a grocery sack full of fruits and veggies! You never left her home hungry or thirsty or empty handed... she was always generous.

Deloris raised her children to go to church, love the Lord Jesus Christ, to say your prayers and share with others. She loved her family and enjoyed many, many family reunions, hosting quite a few herself. She enjoyed family vacations and rarely went without someone with them. She loved to work outside and was quite the "stick-picker-upper"; between her and Calvin their yards were always beautiful and well maintained.

Deloris is survived by her daughter Beverly and husband Dennis Bradley of Silver City, OK, her son Brad Newport and wife Kim of Sand Springs, OK; her grandchildren, Jason Bradley and wife Jen of Mannford, OK, Clint Bradley of Olathe, KS, Angela and husband J.R. Nance of Silver City, OK, Brady Newport and wife Laurel of Bradenton, FL, Blake Newport & Keisha of Diamond City, AR, Bonus Grandchildren, Kelsey Stevens & wife Ulani of Claremore, OK, & Kasey Stevens of Sand Springs, OK. Grandchildren blessed their lives for sure but then came the gift of great grandchildren; Morgan Bradley, Madison and husband Jarred Reece, Cade Nance, Skyla Nance, Cora Bradley, Bodhi Newport, Waylan Newport, Evelyn Reese, Karson Stevens, Isabella Stevens, & Kade Stevens. Deloris is also survived by her youngest brother Lawrence Matherly and wife Rita of Drumright, OK.

Deloris was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Ethel Matherly, her husband Calvin J. Newport of 57 years, her husband Bob Flynt of 7 years, an infant granddaughter Jennifer Newport, & her siblings, Barbara Nunes, Everett Matherly, Evelyn Hoover, Virgil Matherly, Lorene Morris, Cleo Matherly, Pauline Morris, & Clyde Matherly.

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband Calvin in the Brooks Cemetery in Silver City, OK.
