David Wayne Blankenship was born April 15, 1969, to Tracy and Lawanda (Haigood) Blankenship in Dumas, Texas.  He departed this life January 5, 2024, at the age of 54.

He worked at Zigler's art and frame store where he did woodwork.  He enjoyed art, building things with his hands, working on cars, listening to music, and fishing.  He also enjoyed attending his grandsons' sporting events.

On December 17, 2012, David Blankenship and Kimberly Ann Thomas were united in marriage.  They enjoyed eight years together before she passed away on November 30, 2020.

He is survived by two stepchildren, Austin Jones, and Ashley Ridley; five siblings, Debbie McGaha, Mike Blankenship and spouse Annie, Phyllis Sheoffe and spouse Rebecca, Kayla Henson, and Ryan Thomas; three grandsons, Jensen Jones, Jeremiah Jones, and Bryson Buckley; five nieces, Christina, Amber, Mikayla, Traci, and Juliann; eight great nieces and nephews and one on the way.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kim, stepmother, Julia Blankenship and two brothers in law, Covey McGaha, and Bret Henson.

Visitation will begin at 5:00PM January 12, 2024.  Funeral services are scheduled for 6:00PM, Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.  Services are under the direction of Hutchins Maples Matherly Funeral Home.
