Carolyn Sue Ailey was born July 21, 1942, to Clyde Wesley and Rosalie Helen Shields in Ponca City, Oklahoma. She departed this life October 5, 2024 at the age of 82.

Carolyn attended Ponca City public schools graduating in 1960. On December 23, 1961, Carolyn Shields and Earl Ailey were united in marriage. From this union were born two sons, Troy and Steven.

She worked at Crestview Cleaners in Ponca City for numerous years before eventually purchasing the business. She was an active member of Crossway Church in Cushing for the last several years. She enjoyed going to church as well as reading the bible regularly.

In her spare time, she enjoyed raking hay, mowing her lawn and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carolyn loved to travel, specifically to Florida and Branson. While in Branson they frequently stayed at Big Cedar lodge where she spent time relaxing floating on the lazy river. While in Florida she enjoyed relaxing on the beach. Carolyn was also an avid football fan; she especially enjoyed watching Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Ailey; two sons, Troy Ailey and wife Elisabeth, and Steven Ailey and wife Stefanie; one sister, Wilma Carmack; one brother, Ricky Shields; seven grandchildren, Deanya Birdsell, Trent Ailey, Darby Ailey, Tyler Ailey, Trandon Ailey, Dylan Ailey, and Kyra Ailey; seventeen great grandchildren, William, Keegan, Ashton, Addyson, Aniston, Cayson, Bryson, Aubrey, Payton, Kynslee, Paxton, Westyn, Zaileyn, Axtyn, Zooey, Triston, and Truitt. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Clyde Shields Jr., Louis Shields, and Wesley Shields, and one grandson, Brayden James (BJ) Ailey.

Services will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, October 12, 2024 in the Crossway Church in Cushing with Pastor Sonny Johnston officiating.
