Betty Jean Whiteley was born November 20, 1931 to Warren and Leila Gerner in Bessemer, Pennsylvania.  She departed this life September 1, 2022 in Depew, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years.

Betty, a Depew resident most all her life, was united in marriage on June 14, 1950 to John M. Whiteley Jr; together they raised three children.  John preceded her in death on May 30, 2005.  Betty worked many years as a document control specialist at McDonell Douglas and led an active life. As a member of the Red Hat Society, she gathered frequently with friends.  She loved Jesus and strived daily to be an encouragement to others in the church and community.  She was sure to never miss a church function.  She often sent cards or letters to those who missed church.  Betty always made time for family often traveling to visit and showing support for her grandchildren at their many sporting events.  Betty often passed the time crocheting and shelling and picking pecans.  She looked forward to Christmas lights and watching the leaves change every year.

Betty is survived by her three children, William David "Doc" Gerner and wife Donna of Pensacola, Florida, Sherrie Lynn Whiteley of Depew, and Candace Jean Busby and husband Duwayne of Depew; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Creech and Jeff Gerner both of Pensacola, Florida, Byron Edmondson, Jray Edmondson, Jadaya Edmondson, Brandon Edmonson, Ryan Collins, all of Depew, Tyler Busby of Ardmore, Chasadee Busby of Drumright, Kylee Busby of Depew, Cassadee Busby of Stillwater, and Dylan Busby of Drumright; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 54 years, John; six brothers, two sisters-in-law and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Church of God in Depew.   Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Depew.
