Obituary

Amy Sue Barnett was born October 18, 1933 to Ira and Hazel Tallent in Newby, Oklahoma.  She departed this life June 8, 2022 at the age of 88 years 7months and 21 days.

Amy Sue was a 1951 graduate of Bristow High School.  Upon graduation, she made short work of marrying the love of her life Gene Barnett; the two were married February 1, 1952.  Amy Sue, a lifetime homemaker, loving wife and nurturing momma took about the daily tasks of raising their four children.  Somehow, Amy Sue seemed to find the perfect balance of work and play when it came to her children.  Throughout the years family always came first; second only to her Lord and Savior.  She served faithfully as a member of Advent Christian Church.  She was a great cook; she prepared meals for many different occasions always remembering the family favorites.  Amy Sue sewed mostly for the joy of it; sometimes, out of necessity.  Crossword puzzles kept her mind sharp.  Being an avid game player kept the house full of laughter with wit and banter.    As well, she loved to go fishing with Gene and could often be found at the Bristow Lake with their dog always by their side.  Gene preceded her in death on July 6, 2018, after sharing 66 years in marriage.  Her greatest joy was seeing the successes of her children.  She loved deeply and celebrated daily her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Amy Sue is survived by her children, Patricia Sue Costello, Michael Barnett and wife Rhonie, Claudia Dial and husband Dennis and Gina Henshaw and husband Bill; nine grandchildren, Johnnie Barnett, Keith Barnett, Daniel Barnett, Stephanie DeShazo, Amy Prewitt, Kris Prewitt, Shane McCullough, Erin McCullough and Seth McCullough; as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gene and six siblings.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Advent Christian Church in Bristow.  Interment will follow at Bristow City Cemetery.  Condolences may be made to the family on this web site.
