Obituary

Agnes Lorene Baker was born January 22, 1924, to Ed Brass and Hattie Lois Robison. She departed this life March 26, 2024, at the age of 100.

She learned the value of hard work picking cotton and tending to her chores working on the farm with her family. On December 24, 1940, Agnes Lorene Robison and Harold Richard Baker were united in marriage. From this union were born two sons, Johnny and Harvey. They enjoyed seventy-two years together before his passing July 29, 2012.

Agnes retired from the Cushing Senior Citizens Center in 2012. She was a member of the Cushing Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, going to garage sales, reading her Bible, and spending time with her family. She was the picture of a servant; if you were in need, she was always willing to sacrifice her time to take care of your need.

She reluctantly agreed to sell her house and move to the Rainbow assisted living center in 2019. Then again in 2021 she moved to Prairie Pointe Assisted Living Center in Stroud. Both moves were huge transitions for her, but she was embraced and loved by the staff, which became an extended part of her family.

She is survived by one son, Harvey Baker and wife Marsha; two granddaughters, Nikki Baker and spouse Tracy, Carmen Matherly and spouse Brent; two great grandsons, Tanner and Cameron Matherly; one great great granddaughter, Blakely Matherly as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Johnny Baker, two brothers, Carl and Troy Robison, and one sister, Ada Emmons.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Matherly Davis Funeral Home from 4:00PM to 7:00PM. Graveside services are Friday, March 29, 2024, at Fairlawn Cemetery with memorial services to follow at 11:00AM, at the Cushing Free Will Baptist Church.
