Donald Crawford, retired computer programmer, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016, in Cushing at the age of 66 years. The son of the late Daniel Crawford and Verna Mae Atwood Crawford, Don was born on October 2, 1949, in Columbus, Kansas, and was raised and educated in that area. A graduate of Emporia State University receiving a math and computer science degree. He worked for Hertz for 20 years and during tax season worked for H & R Block. He was united in marriage to his college sweetheart, Suzanne Royster on January 1, 1972, in Arkansas City, Kansas. Don will be remembered as a Christian man with a gentle heart. He enjoyed helping his family and friends. Don was always patient with others, listening and ready to assist in any way he could. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and was in tune with current affairs. Survivors include his wife Suzanne Crawford of the home; one daughter Martha Crawford of the home; one son Ivan Crawford of Oklahoma City; one brother Nova Crawford and his wife Peggy of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; his mother-in-law Clara Royster Ryan and her husband Fred of Cushing; two nephews, Nova Craig Crawford of St. Louis, Missouri, and Christopher Crawford of Jackson, Missouri, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 5, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. in the Council Valley Advent Christian Church with Pastor Steve Tiger officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
